I'm going to be purchasing a laptop soon to replace my aging PC, and I was wondering if anyone could recommend a brand or even a specific computer that would work well for photo editing. Thanx. |

If you have the money, I would go for an apple

A student of mine uses his laptop for our lessons and he has the apple titanium. It works great. I sometimes forget I'm using a laptop and not a desktop! But I'm also biased toward apple anyway! |

Buy a Mac you can migrate any software liscences over that you may have to your new OS for a minimal charge.

I use a PC for the office but would not hesitate to 'switch' when I went for a laptop.

I got a Compaq N600c PIII 1.2 Ghz with 768 MB RAM, 30 GB HDD, CDRW/DVD, 14.1 @ 1400x1050. The high resolution screen makes it easy to edit large photos, etc.

It originally retailed for about $2500 but when the 610's came out they dropped to $999 still brand new (that's what I paid). You can pick one up on Ebay for about $600 now and they're still awesome machines. I love mine.

It's the perfect blend between a lightweight mobile and a desktop replacement. It's barely an inch thick and is just as large as the 14" display...very slim. I'd highly recommend it.

Dells are also great if you're buying brand new and have the $$$. _________________ Brandon Eley - I actually used Photoshop 2.0!
