|
|
I'm having a major problem on colorizing black & white pictures. My style on that is to create a new layer by selecting a solid color and setting the layer style to "Color" and then erasing the areas witch i don't want to color with that color etc etc.
It used to work fine until i switched to CS4. Now when i try to start erasing the colors from the picture, PS tells that i have to rasterize the picture before proceeding, and when i do so, i can no longer change the solid color's color from layers panel. What am i supposed to do?
Main thing on my colorizing style is to change the solid colors after painting with them so it's kinda big deal if i can no longer do that. |

Rasterizing is the process of converting vector graphics into pixels. I don't see why this would be happening if you are working with a normal picture.
What is your workflow? You say erase, but if you are working with an adjustment layer you should be painting on the mask with black to mask the color, and white to reveal. |

Hmm, in my style i first select the solid color, set the layer type to "Color" and then erase those parts i don't want to be colored with that specific color.
I just tried to edit a b/w picture in JPEG-form and at least that didn't work any better than png-files saved to my computer with paint.
I learned this coloring style from a PS tutorial and i know it's working well because i've colored lots and lots of pictures with it. (okay, it was with CS3 but i don't see a reason why would that be the reason to this weird behaviour) |

You use the word style, it should be a fill layer, is that what you mean?
You use the word erase. Are you actually trying to erase or are you painting on the mask with a black brush? |

Hmm, i use term "erase" because i use eraser tool on erasing the solid color from the layer. and with term "style" i refer to the way that im coloring b/w pictures. I call it my style because i know that there is several ways to color b/w images. |

I've said this two times already, when using a layer mask you paint with black to mask and white to reveal. You should not be using the eraser tool. |

almost every tool gives me that same rasterize-sign, including brush tool.
There is something weird about this, only backround can be effected by those editing tools such as eraser or brush tool. |
