I'm not really sure how should I even name the problem. I tried to find a solution on google by few keywords but nothing helped. I hope someone here knows the answer Big Grin

So here's the deal: when I color my sketches I allways use multiple layers. It everything allways worked fine. But when I installed PS CS3 on my laptop which is runin win 7 I begun having problems with layers when I try using few different colors on the same layer.

Example: Layer one has skin color on it but I want to add some different tones just to try it. Now, the basic skin color is already there but when I want to use another color with the brush tool, it just won't. Nothing happens - no color or anything.

I didn't even use the transparency option nor did I lock the layer in any way. It just won't let me use few different colors on the same layer. Now, sometimes it let's me use three colors, sometimes only one and I can't figure out why is that so.

The only solution I have so far is making new layer every time it won't let me color. But that is very impractical and I'm really hoping someone knows the answer.

Tnx Big Grin

Welcome to the forums salina2712. Not sure that I can help too much, but... Are you in RGB 8bit? Do you have any blend modes on?

As for using layers for each colour I would think that's a best practice way of working you could always create folders for them in the layers palette or use Ctrl+E to merge the layer to the one beneath when you are happy with the result.

Hi Salina, could you take a screenshot of your whole screen next time this problem occurs, and show us? We might be able to ascertain the problem if we can see your layers, tools, etc.
