This is a Photoshop 7 only action.

Extract is a great tool, but I dislike that it just simply deletes the occluded pixels from the layer. For any type of selection work like this, I much prefer masking.

So, I made this little action that automates the process of running the Extract filter and then applying it's result to your layer as a mask. Big Grin

Run it on any layer besides the Background. You will have to rename the layer when you're done.

Enjoy.

Mods (please allow the .atn extension in this forum Roll Eyes )

The Extension 'zip' was deactivated by an board admin, therefore this Attachment is not displayed.

While you're at it, you may want to consider some other "shareable" Photoshop filetypes that people might actually share

.abr - Brushes
.pat - Patterns
.asl - Styles
.grd - Gradients
.csh - Custom Shapes
.aco - Color Swatches

Trying to make the changes, but it isn't working. Well, I'll get it all set at some time. :) Thanks for the info.

ya, no big hurry. It's just a pain to have to zip stuff first, which also means people have to unzip it at the other end.

I mean, it saves us a little bandwidth, but who cares about that, right?

Cool... don't think we need all those file types though - everyone should have either stuffit or winzip to compress the files anyway... Big Grin
