Hello again. I do want to say as I read each thread, I seem like the only true beginner to photoshop. I have difficulty understanding some of the questions.

Now for the next simple beginner question. As I am using the healing brush tool, it will just quit working. Am I just running out of memory enough to operate or am I missing something else. The puter will tell me I am running with 45% free. Perhaps the healing brush just gets tired, for I am healing a young teen's picts. Brow

I think I can add memory to a laptop. Thx in advance for any info you might can share--if I am doing anything wrong or just need to buy memory.

Hi Fran,
couple of quick questions.

1. How much RAM does your laptop have?

2. What version of Photoshop are you using?

3. What brand of laptop do you have and I'll help you find out if you can add RAM and where to look.

Moondog, I am sorry I did the computer model, etc. wrong. It is a HP notebook 9428nr instead of just he 9000. Perhaps that makes it easier to look up. I went to the HP site, but it did not really tell me much. Just how to add ram IF my computer will take it.

Hi Fran,
Try this website ... it's one that I've used a bunch in the past and it has been accurate all the way.

http://www.crucial.com/index.aspx

I tried using the information you gave me, but can't get the right information, so maybe you can try it. If you need more help, let me know, I'm more than happy to help.

Good morning, Moondog. As best as I can tell with my research, my machine is running at the max memory and unable to increase.

I am still wondering if something is wrong with my set up or something with photoshop. When I go to adobe tv and follow one of the videos, my screen does not do anyt hing like theirs. Such as the one removing blemishes, when they use spot healing brush, the circle of their circle, turns whatever the spot is going to be replaced with. Mine doesn't. Hope I am explaining this correctlt,

Thx again for your help

Once again, I have the silly question. I have played and finally figured out what part of this current problem is. I have been making a new layer and adjustments will not work with the new layer. When I am just using the background everything works. i guess I need a new lesson in layers. I thought I needed new layer so I could keep the orginal intact. What am I missing with the layer? Thank you again for so much help. See, I am a true beginner with so much to learn.

What they probably want you to do is to copy the layer (that has the picture on it) so in effect you have 2 layers with the same image. Then only work on one of the two layers and that will keep the original intact. I hope that makes sense!
