I am creating an all white ink label design which will be printed on a clear plastic label which will eventually be place on a blue glass bottle. The top image you see is just to show you what I am hoping it will look like on the bottle (the blue you see will not be printed....for demonstration purposes only, I placed a blue layer at the bottom - otherwise you will see none of the overlaying artwork as the artwork is all white).
The problem I am having is getting that white water effect to appear as white when I remove the temporary blue "helper" background layer. The 2nd image down is what displays when I hide the blue background layer. As you can see from the 2nd and 3rd images down, to acheive the "white water" effect I had to use some blending modes and some masking to make it all white. But this only works over the blue background.
So....as you may have already figured out, I would like this water to remain white without that black fade when the background is transparent, so that when I print this label on a clear plastic label, all you can see is the water printed in white ink.
Does this make sense? Please let me know if I need to clarify anything.
I would appreciate any help with as I have a deadline to get this to the printers by tomorrow
The white bubble water contains partial transparency.
So the white water is being colored by what is underneath, even with the blue. Needs to be pure white.
Get your blue one, flatten it, desaturate it.
Go Image > Adjustments > Levels
Change it so it make for easy selection, move sliders to make background pitch black and make bubbles slightly brighter white.
Select > Colour Range
Select the black background and fuzziness to max.
Delete the black background.
You will still have gray in your bubbles so you need to go back to...
Image > Adjustments > Levels
Use the output levels slider to make bubbles pure white.
Done i think.
Below is result of above, pure white bubbles on transparent layer with blue underneath just to illustrate the cut.
