Camera Raw compatibility issue

I have CS3 (reinstalled). I attempted to install 5.2 plug in prior to reading that it was only compatible with CS4. I had to complete the nightmare by not saving the current version of Camera Raw that was compatible with CS3. Now, it doesn't matter what version of Camera Raw I install, I continually get the error message that it cannot open because it's not compatible with this version of Photoshop. Please advise.
