Hey all, Im going to try explain this as simple as I can.

First off. I have only been using photoshop for about a month, there is alot of things I dont know. That is why I have come here looking for help. Open Mouth Smile

Right, this is a signature I made the other day.

Notice how the whole signautre including the text, seems dark?

Now, this is the image I used for the "Uncharted 2 Among Theives" text.

I didn't want the black to show, hence why I have toned down the opacity, therefore making "Black area" dissapear.

Now, my question.

How can I make the text for "SickoJay" and "Uncharted 2 Among Theives" lighter BUT make SURE the the black area around the "Uncharted 2 Among Theives" is not there, So it looks just like my current one ( First image ) but the text is more lighter.

Yeah. I told you it would be hard to understand. If anyone can help. Please reply. I want to make my signature look its best. Big Grin

Change the layers blending mode to Screen and the black will disappear.

Note:I only changed it to rgb color mode to show better.

Aha! I done it, Instead of "Screen" I changed it to lighten and now my text is much brighter! Thanks Hawk! ;) I will upload a pic and you can see the difference. Big Grin

EDIT - Here is the new brighter Signature. Big Grin

You dont have to do any of that....
You can just take the wand tool, put the text on a transparent background
and click the black with the wand tool
then press back space and you are left with only the whilte lettering on the
transparent background to add your image

if they were to use the wand tool there would be the problem of the text/font not looking the same after deletion as the font has cracks and stuff in it the cracks would remain black and therefore not have such a clean effect as using screen or lighten would.

lol, I was going to mention that... but whatever. It wouldn't be hard duplicating that text though. Simply find a grunge like brush and mask the text with it. Then take a smaller grunge and paint white to have a rough edge in areas.
