Hi there,
Sorry, I'm not quite with you, are you having problems saving or opening a JPEG file?

I too have this issue. When I have saved some work and reopen it sometimes I save a jpg for a test preview and most of the time after I first save it as a psd file it will nolonger allow me to save as a png or jpg. Why does it do this and how do i save old work into a jpg or png?

First thing to check is if you're still working in an 8 bit RGB image? Go to Image > Mode to find out.
Hope this helps
