I have an image consisting of 3 layers: a background photograph, a (semi transparent) overlayed image of flames, and a colour-filled layer above these, with blend mode set to color to make the flames a specific colour. However, the background image is also being recoloured by the top layer. I want this layer only to recolour the flames layer, but where that layer is transparent, I want the background to show through without being recoloured.
I've tried to do this using groups, but putting the flames and the colour layer into a group, and then setting the group as "normal" rather than pass through. However, when I do this, the background image just doesn't show through at all: everywhere that the flames image is transparent just appears solidly filled with the colour of the top layer.
Can anyone help me achieve the desired effect, please?
