I'm using CS. Does anyone know why when I save a file as TIFF, 99% of the time it can't be opened later. When I return to the folder, there is just an empty icon which, when on attempt to open, displays "could not complete your request because it is not the right type of document."

I've tried checking the LZW which helps, but not all the time. If I have JPEG checked, it won't save it at all. It's now starting to do the same with PSD layers, and is overwriting other files. If I save something with a different name, it still overwrites the original file. I've tried re-installing more often than I can say, so re-installing the software is not an option. Does anyone have any other ideas?

This is a shot in the dark, but you could try resetting Photoshop Preferences.

Ctrl+Alt+Shift as you open Photoshop, should give you the option to reset preferences.

Unless that works, it's going to take a bit of homework!

Keep us posted.

Thanks for your reply. I tried that, but the preferences won't reset- or at least when I hit reset, the options I set don't change. It's the wierdest thing about this saving thing, but it's costing me a lot of time. That, and presets! Presets are driving me crazy! I have to do at least 4 or 5 extra button clicks just to get them to stay even though I set them.
