I have finally saved up enough for CS4 Design Premium but I'm worried about my computer not meeting the requirements.
For example, it says you need atleast a screen resolution of 1,024 x 768 (recommended 1,280 X 800).
But my screen is only 1,280 x 720.
Will this be a problem, or do I need to buy a new monitor? If I do does it have to be exactly the two resolution Adobe requires, or can it be much larger, like above the 1,280 x 800?

I have an HP Pavilion but I bought it about 2005 I believe. I tried to find out if it met the requirements but I'm not too computer savvy and I through out all the papers that came with it. I believe it has the XP Servicepak 2 that Adobe requires, but I'm not sure.

Here are the specs I found online for my computer:

Description

* AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Processor
* 512MB PC3200 DDR Memory
* 200GB 7,200rpm ATA Hard Drive
* 16x DVD+/-RW Dual Layer Burner with Lightscribe
* AC'97 Audio
* ATI Radeon Xpress 200 Integrated Graphics with 128MB Shared Memory
* v.92 56Kbps Modem and Fast Ethernet
* Seven USB 2.0 Ports, Two FireWire Ports and 9-in-1 Media Card Reader
* Windows XP Home, Works 8, Money, Quicken, NIS 2005, Encarta, iTunes, WinDVD, Sonic Digital Media

If anyone can help me out, it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi George,

Your screen is completely fine for CS4. Of all the specs you listed, I feel that 512MB RAM can be on the fence. You can run CS4, yes, but you will not have enough power to run two suite products side by side, say Photoshop and Illustrator. AMD Athlon can be on the slower side, so you'd best be patient with loading and opening speeds. Overall, I would suggest loading more RAM onto your system, say 1GB+

Thank you. I'll be getting CS4 then and will be looking into loading more RAM.

Thanks.

I hate to bug you guys again but I have just one more question. Do I have to get more RAM for my computer first, or can I install CS4 safely right now, and then later get the RAM needed?

I tried installing CS4 the other day, turned Norton autoprotect off, closed other windows and put in Application Disc 1, key #'s, then when finished popped in Disc 2 and it was installing the last parts but I had to go to work so I left it installing. When I came back home I guess the screensaver and auto-standby went on. When I tried to move the mouse to get it out of standby mode nothing happened so I unplugged the comp.

After turning it back on, CS4 didn't install properly. Tried to install again but the second disc wouldn't even load.

Tried to uninstall but it won't go away. In the Add/Remove Programs index it shows CS4 Premium Suite 4 times.

I tried looking up solutions on the web and all I can read is something along the lines of changing the computer to a date prior to installation or downloading Adobe CS4 Clean.

I'm betting the CS4 Clean will do the trick but will it erase the registry so that my activation key # is invalid?
I tried calling Adobe Customer Support the other day but after an hour they barely finished verifying who I was and by the time they asked if I had tried inserting Disc 2 into the disk drive I had to get ready for work.

I'll probably call them back but it seems like I might be on the phone with them all day.

I just want to learn photoshop Frown
