I made a selection with the polygonal lasso tool and i want to copy it, delete it, then paste it on another layer, as in break up the image into parts. The problem is that when I copy the selection, it copies what's inside the boundries of the selection, but when I delete the selection, it also deletes what's under the lines. So there's a part that gets deleted and that I can't copy. Is their a way to specify if I want to copy what's under the selection lines as well? Kind of like when you want to stroke a selection and you get to choose Outside/Center/Inside. |

I think what you need to do is uncheck "Anti-alias" in the options bar before you make the selection. No Feather and no Anti-alias. Give that a try. |

Thank you that worked, but I still have a problem with the same tool. No matter which version of photoshop I'm using, whenever I'm working the lasso tool, it would randomly 'crash' and connect the lines but itself, thus ruining whatever it is I was trying to select |

Hi again BananaRider,
Actually, that problem is pretty common and is often caused by not leaving enough time between two clicks of the mouse button. Without realizing it, as we click our way around the image, we can click too fast. Remember that double-clicking is one way to close your selection. If you were to double-click accidentally, the selection would close and you may not realize why :-) Try going slower and see if the problem goes away.
You may want to speed up the time that represents a double-click in your OS settings. If it's set too slow it would make it very easy to unconsciously double-click while using the Polygonal Lasso Tool.

i actually edited my post when I found out a double click does that, but when I tried going really slow and it happened again, I removed the edit. Any idea what else might be causing it?
