Hey everyone,

I'm looking at making a specialty patch for a Canine Unit that will eventually be embroidered onto a patch and sewn onto a uniform. I have a general idea of what I want, but am not savvy enough to create it myself. Seems simple, but it has to translate into embroidery and still look nice.

Base color is a tactical grey with black stitching (and variations of grey/black). Patch will be roughly 1.7" wide X 2.3" tall.

I don't want it to look cartoonish, or like a giant blob of color that's hard to distinguish. Somewhat realistic but clean and fairly simple.

Basic Idea

Cleaner version of the dog head

That's the basic idea....if you want to tweak or play with the concept, I'm good with ideas or suggestions, but would also like to see a version of what I've posted.

Thanks for any help guys!

Hi,

I think the dog needs to be more of a drawing to enable a better clearer image once embroidered.

Here's what I did, sized accordingly and ready for you to use if you wish x

Hi SC!

Thanks very much for taking the time to do this!
It looks great, but is it possible to get more of a side profile of the dog instead??

Again, thank you.

I'm struggling to find a side profile suitable, and as I'm doing this for free I can't spend too much time searching around (with all due respect) so if you have another image in mind that I can work with, I would use the one you have but there is little definition in it for me to be able to reproduce a trace :/

You also requested a version of what you posted... here's a rough draft. Let me know if you'd like it tweaked in any way.

Thanks again CS. I looked online for another side profile but didn't have much luck either. I really appreciate the help and time you spent.

Meow- thank you also! I still think that the side profile is my favourite and it looks great all cleaned up. I'm unsure of the lettering and what I prefer...so torn.
Are you able to slightly rotate the dog so that he seems like he's looking straight instead of looking slightly up?

Does anyone have any suggestions or thoughts on what looks best?

I've rotated Woof so he's looking straight.

If you'd like to mess around with different fonts etc. the Photoshop file can be downloaded from here;

I can't think of much else really other than possibly to try and create an outline to better distinguish the dog's feature for embroidery purposes, but I don't know if that's really required as I'd don't emobroider much.

Meow.

Looks like Meow has taken this on for you instead, so I'll leave it for now, just message me if you can't get the desired look and want me to do something more
