I always shoot in RAW format. I use Bridge to transfer the files from my camera card to my iMac. I use Bridge to open the files. I then save ones I want as JPEGs. What I am at a loss to understand is why those saved files vary in DPI from 72 to 300.

Given that storage space is not an issue, why would I NOT want them all saved for high quality printing? |

It's best to save files at the high resolution, pixels per inch, (PPI not DPI) just in case you want to print them.

A PPI of 200-300 is usually sufficient. Even less can be acceptable depending on print size and viewing distance. |

I understand. But at what stage and how should I save the JPEG from the raw file opened in Bridge? |

If you're doing all your editing in ACR, then click the Save Image button in camera raw when you're done and select the file type and quality.

If drive space isn't a consideration you don't have to convert, you can just save the raw files. You can open them in Photoshop and print the raw file the same as you would a jpg.

If you'd rather convert but don't want lossy compression save as tiff files. |
