Hi Guys,

I've seen this effect used a lot lately in both photos and film and wondered how it is achieved?

To me it's like the blacks are crushed, its desaturated and then possibly a gray screen layer over the top but wanted to find out if anyone has a preferred method as I'm unable to reproduce exactly right.

Thanks!

As you surmised, I would say a crushing of the blacks and maybe a slight green/cream tint with a little magenta thrown in. Curves and Selective Colour adjustment layers will probably be your friend.
