Hello everyone,

I have just downloaded CS4 and am having a bit of trouble with the Filters. Some of the different blends such as Ripple are unselectable, yet there are still some that are? I have no clue what is going on. I have tried manually opening the Plug-ins and they seem to be there. I would appreciate an help or explanations for my dilema, please. Open Mouth Smile

Hi, The problem you are having is almost certainly not a problem at all. If you go to Image>Mode you will be able to check if your images are 8 bit or 16 bit. Some filters don't work with 16 bit images, which is why they are greyed out. Ideally, you only use these filters late on in your workflow as you have to convert your image to 8bit to use them, and once you have done that there is not much point in converting it back. When you want to convert from 16bit to 8bit, just go to Mode and click on "8bit."
Incidentally, if you end up using smart objects ( which are BRILLIANT) there are a couple of filters that don't work with them either.
