I need some advice on making jewellery photos look better
Are there any tutorials out there?
Are there any plugins that will make my job easy?
(I've tried googling - I must have searched for the wrong things, because I'm not getting any meaningful or helful results)
Thanks
OM

You should post some examples of what you have so far.

ok
see below for some images i have so far of 2 rings
the background - should i be bothered about making it pure white by cutting out?
the last 2 pics show a ring that is actually really nice!
i have several rings like this - all are very expensive!
problem: they don't photo well!
(they yellow mark inside, i'm not worried about, this can be polished and it will go away)
any suggestions?
thanks

The images are very grey and dull, you should re-shoot them using better lighting to make the rings sparkle.

thanks for the reply
the images were shot using a lightbox
the lightbox was a professional one with inbuilt lighting
maybe i'm doing something wrong taking the photograph in the first place?
hmm

Either the lightbox was not powerful enough or the settings on the camera were not correct. Anyway here is one I worked on.

that seem great
can u tell me what u did to get this?
did u cut out the background?
importantly: how much did it take?
if it takes too long, then it might be better for me to master the photography as opposed to editing
let me know
thanks

First use Auto Levels, then use Levels, I moved the grey slider to 1.20 until I got it looking right and then I moved the white slider to around 230 and clicked on OK. You may need to experiment with these settings to get the look you want.

Master the photography rather than edit, it will much faster in the long run.
If you are using a white background then it should be white, not look what you've posted. Check the white balance in camera and correct your exposure.
