How do I apply a gradient across a shape's edge?

let's say I have a square, different colors on each corner, and I want a gradient across the edges so every corner's color will "fade" into the other...

If you have the shape on a seperate layer you can make custom gradients from on color to the other color and apply those gradients on the sides of the shape with lock transparancy turned on.
