Good day, Photoshopforums. I was directed here via a friend of mine. I was informed that this community contained very experienced and intelligent users with the Photoshop programme; I'm rather inexperienced..
I am trying to create my own layout for a map by using the above photoshop example. I have searched, searched and searched continuously but I can not seem to find out how to create highlights and animation textures as shown in the above examples. Is there a plugin for this or? Thank you. I am trying to construct a layout for a map, but I am finding the pencil tool to be a tad sloppy. Thanks.

hi,
wow there is really a lot of things there simple yes but .. smiling... things to think about... so i am at first just going to address things in general later if required we can take one thing at a time and also hopefully other guys jump in and offer thiere thought on doing thing and better... becauee i really think of myself as a novice... anyway...
1. first a tip... when you make your project... make sure it a lot larger than what you need...!! you have more room to work with especial fine details, esier to do things... and you can always reduce size later and still have it look nice.. where asif start outtoo small, if you need to enlarge.... many times that doesn't look nice...
2. what you call hilighting... other words is selective colorizing!!! there are ton of tutorials on selective colorizing... and different ways toapplycolor ... so when youdo your search for tutorials..... try different keywords you'll find hundreds... of tutroials on the subject and different ways to do it.....
3. if your starting from scratch ... you might want to look at using the pen tool ....!! the pen tool is very precise, you can use it to make precise selections and masks, also you can use the stroke feature with it..... alsodon'toverlook using the trapazoid tool!!!
note: you may want tomake each element/ block on it own layers.. and then just move them around to fit.... butall of that depends on the image itself it that approach is viable..
it would have been nice , if you have it, posted what you have for the map you have done so far... it can give other idea on the approach...
4. on the "anamated texture" i am reallynotsure what you mean.. to me animate is having moving objects... however your sample don't hint of that , so i am thinking you mean something else......
overall your going to be using alot of layers, a lot of masking and selections maybe...probably goodidea on the selection to save just in case you need to goback to do something and you don't to recreate just call up the save selection..
5. noticed in your sample there borders around the elements.... they are simple to.... but you maywant to call up tutorial to review todothat... there many...
that it forstarters..... now we look forward forspecific questions....
