i don't think this can be done with any tools in PS, i would have thought that the best way is to hand draw the shape unless you have a graphic tablet & scan it into PS. then you can alter the colour if you wish & then add the dots on a separate layer as well as the text again on a separate layer.

some may come up & prove me wrong & it will be interesting to see if they do.

the other way is to draw the shape in a vector program save as a jpeg & export it into PS then add the text.

It can be done. Using the pen tool. Make 1/4 of the shape that you want.

Duplicate the shape, flip it horizontally and join it with the other one, that will give you the top 1/2 of the shape. (Joining open shapes can be tricky but it can be done)

Now duplicate the top half, flip in vertically, now you have the bottom half. Join it to the top half.

You'll now have a perfectly symetrical shape path, fill it with color.

Scale down the path for the inside of the shape, make it a selection then cut out the center. Scale the path up again midway in the shape and stroke it with a brush to get the dots.

(Obviously you need to set up a brush with spacing to this part.)

See i said someone may prove me wrong, i totally forgot about using the pen tool & very good work hawkeye.

i was thinking about vector programs as i use xara a lot & i know to do this in
xara would take no time at all, saying that i would probably use xara's equivalent of the pen tool.

I'm sure, as you point out, there are other programs in which this type of thing would be far easier to accomplish. Illustrator would likely be another one.

But if all you had was Photoshop, it could be done.
