I'm using Photoshop to add effects to hundreds of images, and this gets very tiring in the long run. Is there a way to add an effect to multiple images?

You can record an action to do it. |

Like hawkeye said open one of the files and record and save an action.
Then go to Bridge and sellect all the files you want to have this action applied to.
On the pull down menu go to Tools|Photoshop|Batch.
Select the action you just recorded make any additional changes you think are needed and hit OK. |
