I was fooling around in Photoshop tonight and I found out a cool use for the chrome filter. If you make a couple of duplicated images of an object (i.e. a pepper), you can create a couple of chromed copies and use the soft light blending option to create an iced over effect, like below. I also spruced it up with a lensflare on the base layer and a couple of extra chromed layers, one to add a color (by using color overlay) and another to accent the highlights. Here is the result:

you don't by any chance know how to do a plain old regular ice affect not ICED OVER but ICE
