i have a picture and i want to make the sides fade with transparency.... HOW THE HELL DO YOU DO IT!?! IVE WASTED TOO MANY HOURS TRYING TO LEARN IT....thanks guys...

An easy way:

Use the rectangular marquee tool to choose the area to the right of the object and the area to the left of the object. Go to Select, Feather... set it to about 40-60 or so (depends alot on the pic size), and then hit the delete button. Continue hitting the delete button until the fade is where you want it.

There's many other ways, but this should suffice for most things.
