Hey there!

It's been awhile since I've posted. Still been doing graphics work, but not had enough time to really push myself and grow in a way that required a community. I posted this on another forum with no response, I'm hoping perhaps I'll get a bit more out of the place where I started out. (right here)

So, essentially, the person I'm doing this for wants to take the original picture, but make the guy bald, add some scars and a tattoo. I figured I could do it, but, as you can see, I'm having trouble imitating the shading done (presumably by pencil and blender) with what I have sort of "drawn" in. I was wondering if there were any tips or tricks on how to make that shading blend in better with the rest of the pic.

and I fiddled with it while waiting for the wife to come home and is this what you're looking for?

Yes, though I'd love to learn how you did it so that I can grow from the experience. Plus, it's not for me, so if the other person wants any other specific additions, I'd like to be able to make them for them

AS for the bald part of the head and shading ...

1. mainly I used the clone stamp to get rid of the hair and replace it with dark colored skin, until I got the right shape.

2. then I used the smudge tool to move the shading/color of skin to just what I needed.

3. a 1pixel paint brush with a shade of grey off the hair to create the scar and

voila ..... it's more playing around until you like it rather than any set pattern or rule.

Ah, see. I was doing a similar thing and it just wasn't working for me. I would likely have to concede that you are simply better at it than me. I'll play with it again from scratch this weekend and see if I can do it when working more precisely, how long did that take you, roughly?

Hi Haunus,
How long have you been using photoshop? I've been at it for about 8 or 9 years now ..... well, Paint Shop Pro and Photoshop ....
I'm not better man ... really .... I just play ALOT and sometimes remember things :o)
It took me about 20 minutes .... but I had a pretty good idea of what to do from the start.
On your first try, it's not that you did it WRONG ... but it looks a bit odd ... more time, more practice will help ... honestly.

I work for a computer war game company and I do quite a bit of editing on pictures/photos etc ... that's why I KNEW what to do and how.

I've been doing photoshop since roughly before began here (which was 2004) so about 6 years. I was not putting myself down in any way in comparing myself to you, simply that you knew what you were doing at this specific task better than I do, which is fine by me. I'd say, judging from your other work, that you likely can do better than me in most aspects of photoshop, but that just means there's more for me to learn, I don't do this professionally so my personal growth in it is slower, which I'm fine with.
