Is there any hope for a photo taken in video mode?

A friend took a few photos in video mode and sent me the jpgs which look way overexposed. Please take a look and let me know if there is any hope. I tried a few different things with no avail. I attached a small sample image.

Sorry to say that because the highlights are blown there is no information/detail to recover.

Thanks everyone! I have been using photoshop for years but there's so much to it, you never know if there's some magic hiding somewhere!
