I opened an image in camera raw and then opened it up as a smart object into to Photoshop CS4. I then created a new layer as a copy and double clicked to re-open back in camera raw and finished my adjustments. I then opened my image back into photoshop and created a layer mask on the top layer. All very basic stuff so far. I selected my foreground color as black and began painting through my layer mask. I made a few mistakes so I changed my foreground color to white by pressing X to paint back the mistakes but to my surprise I couldn't?! This has never happened to me before and I am at a loss as to what I am doing wrong. I would appreciate if anyone knows what am doing wrong, I am sure it is something simple. I thank you in advance.

Regards

Hey dankatz,
Have you got the layer mask active in the layers panel?
