Layout

I'm trying to make a layout as well.
I sale dogs and I want to make a website but I have no clues about the layout. I know it has to be easy on the eyes but it has to be appealing as well. I have seen many website but I haven't seen anything that would suite my needs. does any one have any ideas on a layout. I have pictures of my dogs that I would like as part of the template maybe in the background or top banner but when I try to work with Photoshop it look bad, I'm not a pro at Photoshop
