Okay - I have this picture which is 96 X 96 ppi; basically it's a thumbnail. I need to make it more clear, and bigger to be able to identify what I think is a tatoo. Is there a way I can do this?

Thank you,
samiam Confused

You can't put detail in that isn't there already.

There are only a certain numbers of pixels in the small image. If you try to make it bigger you won't get more pixels and more detail, you'll just get bigger pixels and there will be no more detail than there is now. No different then looking at the small image with a magnifying glass.

Run it through a fractals program....and then shrink back a little. You should be able to see what detail is there that way to some degree. good luck

...oops, forgot....shrink it back a little in PS with the Free Transform tool.

Fractals programs mathematically rebuilds what it sees. It won't fix anything, just makes the image bigger for you so you can do some tweaking after you've shrunk it back with the FT tool.

I once had to do this to several components of a design, which I ended up compiling into another image that won the competition I was entering. So I know for a fact this all can be done.

I had 8 and 9kb files to enlarge/rebuild to go on my design that final outputted at anywhere from a 2" button to a 30" poster. Turned out real nice, but rebuilding the components did take a little time. I had hoped to MAYBE make the final cut; never expected to win the thing!
