I've currently came upon a few stunning graphics and was immediately inspired to make this post. I understand that it’s impossible to simply ‘tell’ someone how to creative an awesome graphic. Creativity, capability, and experience play key rolls in making such graphics. However, there are certain skills applied to graphics in order to make those ‘oh-so dazzling’ outcomes, such as: blending, text effects, and good quality images.

As far as Blending, I'm currently learning
this ps blending skill from Emily's World and currently using this psp blending skill from jennyspage. I'm aiming for something more 'advanced' that will really give a 'pro' look to my graphics ;)

As far as text effects, the most common ones I come across are: Neon Glow, Chrome, and Candy. I’m not looking for effects that are so much ‘advanced’, but different. Here are some text effects that I am interested in learning Click --> here and text with a ‘3D Look’ --> here and here

I apologize for any inconvenience or frustration this post may cause. All help, criticism, tips, links etc are appreciated.

Well, there's a great tutorial for 3D text in Photoshop at www.thewebmachine.com, but the site is down at the time I made this post.

Never, ever, EVER, blend photos using the eraser tool. ALWAYS create layer masks. The tutorial you linked to first is a bit misleading. When editing a layer mask (assuming you haven't switched the foreground and background colors) using the eraser tool is just like painting with black, which is usually what I prefer. After making the layer mask just select the brush tool and use the [x] key to toggle fore/back color while you work.

Hey Determin3d, On the text graphic in blue that says "asyouar..." I would bet it wasnt created with photoshop... It looks to me like it was done in Xara3d and possible imported into photoshop. I could be wrong, but I would risk the bet.

Could you clarify as to why you'd say never ever.....
Personally I find masks are quite time consuming.
Great if you have alot of time for the project, but time isn't always
an option.
