Hello,
I have an image that is very large. It is 4064 x 2704 px. I want to resize it so that I can use it for the header on my blog. I need it to be about 200 x 600 px. I have tried to resize it and when I do it becomes kind of blurry and distorted looking. I am assuming this is because of how large the image is initially.
is there a way to resize it this much and it still be sharp and not stretched looking.

Thank you for any answers you give me.

trouble, hi .... normally when you resize something from large to small it maintains a large amount of clarity/sharpness .... perhaps you're doing something wrong.

could you e-mail me the original picture and what you sized it down to and let me look at them? or maybe you could post them here.

Now, if you are trying to size it down exactly to the size you want, that might not work at all, you may only be able to get a portion of it.

Hello Moondog,
Thank you for your reply. I figured it out since I opened this thread. The original image was almost square. What I was after was a wide rectangular image. So, I simply cropped it enough to get the basic shape that I needed and then resized it. It worked like a champ.

Hi William,
I got to thinking that that might be what you were trying to accomplish and yeah, the only way to maintain the sharp image was to crop it to your size.
Glad you got it figured out.

Mark

Just a tip when resizing, hold ALT and SHIFT when dragging to constrain the image proportionally. Distortion is usually due to unsuitable proportions.
