I need help with step 2 of the following tutorial - "marquee select your header size which will be filled with a gradient effect"

I think what he is trying to say, is that the header selection will be filled with a gradient effect. "Which will be"--as in the future, not that it will somehow automatically be filled with a gradient by simply selecting it.
It's either not a very well written tutorial, or the writer assumes that the reader will be a very experienced Photoshop user. |

Yeah I did think that only if you follow the step down to the letter assuming that you fill the gradient later the end result is not the same as shown in the tutorial. |

It's just not very well written in my opinion. He leaves out way too many important details.
