Hi,
first keep in mind there a lot of different ways to do the same things in PS,
which is best depends on the image your working on...

also get use to the words selections and masking,,, those are keywords in using your various tools to select a object and then do your copy and paste routine!!!

now there are a ton of tutorials both video and text/w graphics and in fact i download them to special designated folders for future reference instead of bookmarking...

i will use a search phrase like PHOTOSHOP TUTORIAL and then add the word that desicribe what i want for example ...PHOTOSHOP TUTORIAL SELECTING OBJECTS .... or PHOSTOSHOP TUTORIAL CHANNEL MASKING .. oh channel masking is a way to select a object with fine details (like hair or a tree) and copy and paste into another layer..

as far as tutorials this search result has various tutorials on making signatures which encompasses selecting and copy and pasting ...
http://search.yahoo.com/search;_ylt=A0geu9KevI1Jht4Aa6lXNyoA?p=photoshop+tutorial+making+signature&fr=yfp-t-501

this link is a list of search result that shows different ways to select a object...
http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=photoshop+tutorial+selecting+objects&fr=yfp-t-501&toggle=1&cop=mss&ei=UTF-8

you might want to look at this link now they concentrate on doing things with cars.. but all there tutorials covers the basic tools uses and techniques that applicable to anything you do in photoshop
http://www.digimods.co.uk/tutorials/tutorials.htm and the tutorial are nice and simple and easy to understand...
