Are you working with an RGB document or CMYK?

Ok so you're trying to use the color #8E006C?

Try filling this color instead: #BC66A7

Take another screenshot and lemme know what happened.

turn off all colour management options in your preferences and then tell us if that has any effect. If you need help finding the preferences then just shout out.
