Well, I'm sure this is latent masochism as this is my baby and I spent hours agonzing over how to get the look I wanted, but please critique anyway. :7

www.winternightex.com

Its a professional site, rather lightweight for the moment until some details get finalized (like the logo), designed to be virtually cross browser compliant, low graphics. Comments please :)

Yeah, the snowflakes were a scaleability thing, it looks better or worse depending on your resolution, unsure how to fix it as I don't want to make custom graphics for every resolution size and test for it. Block colors, as in the Light blue header and left nav to the dark blue main panel?

Ace: Which part didn't you like? The choices of colors? The layout of it? Lack/too much of transition?

With the logo still in flux, I am hoping to have it fade out in the header to the same blue/black background on the right, but unsure on that as of yet.

Hmm, Theres a php script or piece of code to check for user resolution, what you could do is take that code and on the snowflake put it in like

img src="snow_flake_<?php the code?>.gif"

make sure you have those images heh

Not sure where I saw it hmmmm

Since a while I think hehehe

See if your script calls something like

1024x768

The filename would be
snow_flame_1024x768.gif

I use something like this to include things heh

I like the blurred text behind the snowflakes on the right side, did you use random text or an actual pice of work?

I like it. I like the choice of colors and the cut-off snow flakes are fine in my opinion. Actually, I would like to see a bit more of them, but otherwise they're fine.

I do think the transition from blue to black is a bit sudden. I would prefer the gradient to be somewhat wider making it less obvious where one color started and the other stopped.

Overall, looks great!

Another thing I see, possibly make the menu area, 100px

or replace 100 with the width or else it goes small till you maximize
