 hello, I'm Kristen and I'm new here! I really would like to know what photoshop is cuz I love taking pictures and also to find out how to make icons and colorbars.... any help is appreciated thanks  !

howdy partner... i think tutorials help great ly to guide and show the trix of the trade of photoshop...
good-tutorials.com is a great place to find tutorials
other than that just play around and post problems you have or ideas

Can photoshop alone make icons? I've tried before but I had to use cursor arts icon app to make my icons.

nope. photoshop can't save a file as a .ico extension.
