I'm trying to use a clipping mask to confine the 'teeth' layer to the 'head' shape as below:

My problem is that I cannot use a gradient overlay on the head layer, and apply a clipping mask for the teeth.

Does anybody know a way around this?
Also, while I'm on the teeth.. I'd like to add some vertical lines to the bar, so it actually resembles teeth.. Obviously I don't want to rasterize the layer, so drawing the lines with a brush or line tool isn't an option. Can anyone help?
I'd appreciate it!
EDIT: I can't even seem to tag things properly in a forum.. *sigh*

Yes you can, just clip the gradient layer (or gradient adjustment layer) too.

I don't get it, why don't you just create layer on top with the vertical lines? |

Thank you. I was frustrated for nothing.

I've had things shift in a vector image when it gets blown up to a larger scale, so thought I'd rather draw vertical lines that overlap and come out of the 'mouth', to be safe I guess.
However, solved that problem as well.
Thanks for the help RedEye. |
