Hey there,
Start with the right sized document for the final print. Generally with a magazine cover you'll need a title at the top (the name of the magazine) and then more text around a central theme, maybe like a picture or illustration with text arranged and formatted around it.

What kind of magazine are you designing for?

It's a graphic design magazine based around boldness and uniqueness. The more color, the less fear, the better. Great thing to start with when I'm clueless about photoshop, huh?

I am a pencil and paper artist, old school if you will. Big Wink I can see the whole thing but need to know the basics! Urrrg! You've been a great help with this question as well as my other ones. Thank you so much for the great and simple advice!

No probs, how about going for the scanned artwork effect for the edition. You could draw the front page, scan it in and then add the text using Photoshop?

Awsome idea for a cover. I appreciate that last bit of advice very much but I already completed it. Sorry. Your advice helped a lot though and the cover turned out great using PS and Illustrator. Thanks!
