A few months ago I designed a newsletter which included many photos. When the newsletter was printed in 1 color (blue) the photos were a bit dark. The text was ok. The printer suggested that I "screen back 60%" the next newsletter.

Well....the time has come to print another newsletter. I don't understand what "screen back 60%" means and I certainly don't know how to do it.

Can anyone please explain what this means and what I am suppose to do?

As in printer are you referring to the person who is doing the printing of your newsletter or the printer machine?

If you designed it all in photoshop then you can try changing the OPACITY to 60% or perhaps lightening the project up with IMAGES/ADJUSTMENTS/BRIGHTNESS CONTRAST

not sure if this helps at all, but personally I've never heard the term screen back 60% ... but I don't take my things to a professional printer very often if at all

The newsletter was designed in InDesign. By "printer" I mean the person who will print the newsletter. From what I can find on the Net, "screen back" must be changing the opacity, but I have only seen a blurb about it.

Thanks for your help!!!
