How does one make the border of the picture blurry like this?

Feel kind of like an idiot
I know it's something really easy
Haven't used photoshop in a bit and am a bit rusty

Thanks in advance

The fade effect is as simple as adding a layer mask while applying a black to transparent gradient. Black conceals, white reveals, so the first picture for example, the white border is the color black on the layer mask while the football player is the white on your layer mask. The transitions in between are shades of gray.
