I have a 12mb dng file.

I open and save it as 16bits tiff file. Its size is 70mb. Is it reasonable?

When I add an adjustment layer (exposure) and save it the size of the file becomes 130mb. Is it reasonable?

Another adjustment layer adds 30mb. Again, is it reasonable.

Saving without or with lzw/zip compression does changes the size of the file in just a few percents.

Is there a way to reduce the file size without loosing quality or flattening the layers?

All you can do is merge whatever layers you can.

You could also convert to 8 bit. But 16 bit images are what they are. Huge.

I've done composite work for photographers who required 16 bit and without flattening I had a 800 mb image open on my machine before I knew it.
