the way the Clone Stamp works is to select a spot as you did by alt clicking .... then that little thing that follows the pointer around is where the 'replacement color is coming from.
so you have to think things like
where do I alt click to do this next spot .... then continue to think that
remember that if you make a mistake use the shortcut CTRL+ALT+Z to go back a step ... you can go back as many steps as you need (well, it's usually limited to like 20 steps I think)

yeah..i kida already understood that but on a small image it would make sense to shorten the distance between the pointer and the thingy that follows it! Would work much easier if they were like an 1/8" apart!!!
