I have two photos taken with the same camera, 8 years apart.
I can get the two on different layers and make one semi-transparent. I need to align several points that are common to both photos. The photos are pretty close in size and origin (camera position).
When I try in CS4 to twist, some points go out of alignment and some come in. Something is not quite the same.
Is there a way to put a dot on each point and have Photoshop align by twisting or slightly distorting please.

Hi enonod,
Unfortunately, Photoshop's transform tools are impotent in comparison to the ability of those in Illustrator. If you have the resources, you may want to try using mesh in Illustrator to align. |

My thanks Sublimity. I had not considered illustrator, which I have hardly used. I will give that a try.

Would loading the images into a stack and selecting "Attempt to Automatically Align Source Images" do what he is asking? I have not tried it myself but watched a tutorial where it was used. |

Thank you 66stang66 for your input. I have not come across this function but will certainly give it a try.
I tried another alignment method, which was primarily for panoramas, but it said not enough overlap??? it was almost 100% overlap.

File>Scripts>Load Files into Stack .... Use the Browse button to find your 2 files (or more). Check the top checkbox ner the bottom of that screen to have the program try to align the images. Click OK and wait for it to finish.
I just used a cheapy digital camera and took two images with the same object (my TV) near the center of each image. I took one step back when I took the second picture.
When I ran them through the Stack script, it aligned the TVs on the two layers near perfectly. However, it didn't distort the layers to make other points match up. It did rotate one though. |
