Hi! im new to the whole photoshop thing Confused
i was just wondering if anyone could give me the steps to have a black and white background and leave my object in colour.

for example i have a photo of me, my surroundings would be in black and white but i would remain in colour.

is it possible for someone to guide me?

Thank you =D

Yes! I love this effect. I would be more than happy to create a tutorial for you.

I will try to have it done by tomorrow.

In the mean-time, someone else here might provide you with a brief description/walkthrough on how to do this effect.

This is simple if you know how to use Quick Mask. Select the Quick Mask tool and grab a normal edged brush and paint in the area that you want black and white.

Then Select Inverse and then desaturate.

knowing Kid ... his tutorial will be much more clear to you than my short description here, but feel free to ask questions if you start trying to use my way.

this can be done as part of the previous .....once you have either the all selected ... before you desaturate,

go to SELECT/MODIFY/INVERT ... (this will then highlight the part you want colored.

then COPY/PASTE (then make sure it is in the exact right spot)

then add an OUTER GLOW to THAT LAYER and that should take care of things

let me know if you don't understand or need a bit more help with this.
