I want to submit photos to papers but ive been told i have to add captions to the pics instead of putting info in the file name.. aparently its easier for editors.. how do i edit a caption?...

For a visible caption. Click- Image, Canvas Size. Change the anchor point to the top or bottom, and choose a color for the extension. Add about an inch or so to the height, click OK. (You can cut off any excess later)
Add your caption text to the blank area.
