I'm wanting to revamp some of my web site and maybe have most of my products (fishing lures)with a white background. I believe a picture is worth a thousand words.
This is an example of what I'd like to learn to do.

Like take this one and make it like the one above.

Also notice how clean the top image is with no jagged edges around the hooks.
HOWD THEY DO THAT?

It would appear that the image you posted was photographed that way on a white background. If you're serious about getting really good images, you should consider doing the same.

Getting a similar result with the picture you posted would require a very careful selection of the lure. For this I'd suggest learning to use the pen tool.

I was wondering if they might have shot that over a light source with white paper covering the source.
I've tried shooting over a white surface, but I always get unwanted glare effects from my lite source.

Most people use a lightbox for these type of product shots. You can actually make your own and get rather good results or buy one.

Hi T Clark,

I'm totaly new at photoshop but have a link to a guide for what your trying to do: http://graphicssoft.about.com/od/photoshop/l/blrbps_3aleaf.htm

This might let you get the results without forking out for extra items.
