I was creating a banner for a site, when all of a sudden no matter what i click or did, the white selector hand was the only thing that would show when i clicked on the document ( i could go to file and edit etc but that was it...), i xed it out and opened a brand new blank document, and again anything that i clicked, like the paint bucket tool, the white hand would stay there and i couldn't add anything to the document, the only way it fixed it self is when i restarted...

Anyone know why this happened or how i can prevent it from happening again?

Pressing the space bar is a shortcut for the hand tool. Is it possible you were leaning on it or it was stuck. It happened once to me...

I figured out if i tap space bar it fixes it, but when i select something new and point it on the project i will see a normal pc cursor come up for a second, and every once in a while the "spacebar hand" will come up and not go away till i tap space bar, it does it for no apparent reason, even if i dont touch the space bar...

ANy ideas?

Well, maybe you need a new key board?

Or you could try to trash your preference file for PhotoShop,

Go to Computer/User(you)/Library/Preferences/PhotoShop CS Settings, trash thisw folder and relaunch Photoshop, all will be right again, I hope

Doing this leads me to all of that, Preferences/ Adobe/extensions manager2 than its just blank know site of Ps cs settings... I use photoshop cs4 if that matters at all.
