|
|
Hey all,
Recently been trying to upload some pics to make an online portfolio. Very happy how they look in photoshop cs4 and bridge, sharp and saturated. then i upload them to the web, and they all look washed out and soft. I've tried uploading them to different sites (flickr, blogspot, even facebook) and they all come out looking the same. I thought the softness might be a result of the uploaders resizing the pictures, but i re download the uploads and they are still at the original size, and now unsaturated and crappy. I've tried viewing in different web browsers, but they still look washed out and unsaturated.
So i thought maybe the photoshop colour profile is oversaturating the images, or my monitor needs callibrating, BUT - if i view the original pics with another program like mac image preview they look fine. wtf? is there something really obvious i'm missing?
attached is one of the images, in photoshop it is quite saturated, so i'm interested to see how it's gonna look uploaded here...

thanks for the info, exactly what i was looking for. So do most people who publish on the web keep their workspace set to sRGB all the time rather than Adobe RGB (1998)??

If that is your primary work flow it would make sense. Just don't forget to change it when you want to make prints, etc.
