I have recieved a photoshop project that is a baseball card. I would like to know how to load this file on too photoshop 6.0 and seperate the layers. This would allow me to become more familar with the layering process and increase my knowledge base. I am new to this program and project and I would appreciate any input. TIA> |

If you have a psd file then just opening it in photoshop will result in all the layers being seperate and editable.

If it is a PSD file it will have layers, all you need to do is click on the image and it should open with PS. To view the layers, open the layers palette. |

I can open the psd file but how does one manipulate the different layers? For example, lets say i want to change the name on the card, which layer is that on? |

In the layers palette there is an eyeball icon on each layer. Click it to turn off each layer. Turn off all the layers then turn on each individual layer and you will see what each layer contains.
Text layers will look different than the other layers in the palette. They'll have a large T on them and their layer name will be the text itself. |

If the layers arent named properly then you can work out which is which by turning them on and off with the eye icon next to each layer, also pressing ctrl and clicking on each layer icon will show the selection boundaries of each layer. |

Thanks for the good instructions. If I want to replace the photo in the psd how does one do that?
I have located the layer it is in but I do not know how to change the picture or change the text? Again I have found the layer but not able to manipulate it. |
