I am using Photoshop Elements 6 for Mac, mainly for digital scrapbooking. I work in 12x12" pages at 300dpi. The issue is that every file I bring into my 12x12 page, regardless of it's actual size, comes in at 4 3/4". So, a background that should be 12x12, opens up at 4 3/4. Or, a letter, which should be 2", opens at 4 3/4".

I never had this happen using Photoshop Elements for Windows. Is there a setting I can change or something I can do about this? Thanks!

If you make a new file at 300 DPI resolution, the files you bring into it also need to be 300 DPI.

That's the puzzling part - the items I bring in are 300 dpi also, and they are all coming in at 4 3/4", regardless of their actual size. It is quite puzzling to me!

How are you bringing the items into the new document? Copy/paste, dragging...?

I right click the file and select "open with Adobe Photoshop"

That's opening the file into PS. How are you bringing them into the 12X12 300dpi file?

Oh, sorry about that. I drag them from the Project Bin onto the 12x12 file that's open.

Well, I don't have Elements and I don't use a Mac so I'm limited on advice in both of those areas.

I'd suggest that you open the images into PS and then drag it into the new file, see if that helps. Double check the size and resolution when you open them.
